Just by taking a couple minutes to go over the graphic (and you may find you self reading it even longer… pretty mesmerizing) you can learn what you need to know in order to better diagnose car problems and become a little more car literate, which is always a good thing!

The Safest Driving Cities

Over the last 9 years, Allstate has been gathering information about the rate of auto accidents in a number of cities all across America. Each year, they crunch all those numbers and use them to put out a list of the safest places in the country to be a driver. They’ve just recently released their report for 2013, and this year the title belongs to… Fort Collins, CO.

If you’re the kind of person who follows traffic stats, this should come as no surprise to you, as this is the third time Fort Collins has come out on top. They’re apparently a power house in safe driving. In fact, they’ve never finished outside of the top 10 since the study began 9 years ago. Drivers there average nearly 14 years in between accidents, which is 28% fewer than the national average.

On the other side of that coin is Washington DC who, for the second year running, took home the dubious honor of being the worst city for drivers. Their measly 4.8 years in between accidents makes even the national average seem like an achievement.

You can see the complete results over on their page to see which cities ended up where, and check out where some of our neighboring cities ended up.

Our only piece of advise is to maybe take it easy the next time your on your way to work, or dinner, or wherever it is you’re going.

There’s no accounting for other drivers, but by bringing your car to NTX Transmissions in Inglewood, you can at least be sure that you’re doing everything on your end to keep your car running. Give us a call or come by the shop the next time you need any transmission or mechanical repairs!

Best Cars For Teens and New Drivers

If you had to pick a couple key quality that a perfect starter car would have, safe, fuel efficient, and reliable would probably all be near the top of the list.

Well, CarInsurance.com recently released a handy list of what they found to be the best model that encompass those important factors.

The models they chose were all 2009-or-later models to ensure that they would still be new enough to ensure a high standard of reliability, but also still available in stock options to help them remain affordable.

Another thing that affected the affordability of the cars was the insurance plan. For example, a teen who wants to drive a sporty coupe is going to pay a higher premium than one who is okay driving a standard sedan model.

In the end, after considering all the important factors, the Ford Taurus, Honda Accord, and Ford Fusion came out on top.

No matter how reliable a car is, nothing is immune from the average wear and tear of driving, so when you’re due for maintenance, or in need of a repair, bring your car or truck in to NTX Transmission. We are the transmission specialists in Inglewood, CA.
